THANK YOU, TWIN CREEKS AUCTION PARTICIPANTS! An enormous thank you to each of you who participated in our 2012 “Toast to Twin Creeks” auction.   Both the online and the live components were wonderful events! In addition to raising some great money, we also had an excellent time doing it! And we were able to bring our parents and our staff together. Every staff member who wanted to attend the live auction was sponsored through either a parent sponsor or the raffle. We had more staff attend than any year in recent memory – testimony to the wonderful community we’re building and the great partnership we have between our parents and our staff.

So let’s get to the $$$ We are still finalizing the results based on some outstanding expenses, and will post updated and final results on our Learning Fund website (www.tcslf.org) as soon as we can. But based on some educated estimates, we are very excited to share the preliminary results: Online auction: 107 families won an auction item. We raised $15,748. Live auction: 71 families participated. We raised an incredible $37,547! $10,990 was raised for the Technology Fund-a-Need alone. (Read on for more Fund-a-Need details.) When you add in ticket sales and a donation from the Growing Room, our total gross proceeds are $61,875. Our estimate of expenses is around $20,000. That gives us net proceeds of over $41,000!

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO? The auction proceeds form an outstanding base for our Learning Fund support for math and reading specialists, kindergarten paraprofessionals, science lab, Rainbow Room, vocal music instruction, art instruction, librarian, Computers-On-Wheels, and many other initiatives. The biggest will be our Technology initiative, which has been given an incredible headstart from the $10,990 Fund-a-Need result from the auction. The goal of this initiative is to provide iPads and MacBooks to allow each and every student use of a device as an integral part of the curriculum. Our Learning Fund Technology Committee is working closely with our Twin Creeks staff as well as the district to determine which devices are best suited to which grades and how to best integrate them into the curriculum; that will allow us to define just how much we need for this initiative. Our initial information shows that we may need anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000 - it's not cheap, but the benefits to our children's education are priceless!

GET IN ON THE ACTION! While our auction results are wonderful, they are not sufficient to support all of the initiatives outlined above. We have 419 families at Twin Creeks. Even assuming there was no overlap between the online and live auction participants (and there definitely was!), less than 50% of our families participated in the auctions. We’d love to get that up to at least 70 or 80%. So if you didn’t participate, please consider participating now. There are several opportunities to get in on the action:

Support the Technology Fund-a-Need: 45 of our 419 families have already donated; their donations averaged over $220. If each of the remaining 374 families can donate $40, that will give us almost $15,000 more, putting us at over $25,000 raised. We will likely need anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000 to fully support a 1:1 ratio between each student and device (iPad or MacBook), so as you can see, we need every penny! If you want to support the Fund-a-Need, please bring a check made out to “Twin Creeks School Learning Fund” with “Technology Fund-a-Need” written in the memo area. You can bring your check to the school office.
